Valium is a drug that is often prescribed to treat anxiety or depression. If you are expected to take a drug test, you may need to know how long Valium stays in your system once you’ve stopped taking it.

Valium is part of the benzodiazepines family, which means it helps to balance out the chemicals in the brain that cause anxiety. It can also be used to treat alcohol withdrawals, muscle spasms, and may be used with other medicines to treat seizures.

Valium is usually taken in pill form and your doctor will decide how much should be administered. You may experience side effects including drowsiness, restlessness, nausea, dry mouth, blurred vision, or irritability. If your side effects are severe, see your doctor.

The length of time Valium stays in your system depends on how much you’ve taken and how long you’ve been taking it. Usually it will show up in a urine or saliva test for 2-3 days after use. It can show up in blood drug test for a longer period of time, and a hair follicle test may be able to detect it for up to 90 days. If you have taken Valium for a long period of time, this timeline might be extended.

Valium is an addictive drug, so you should take it only as prescribed by your doctor. You should never share it with anyone else and make sure to keep it out of the reach of any children or teens in your home. You should also not take it if you are pregnant, as it could potentially hurt the unborn child.

So how long does Valium stay in your system? It can be detected for around 2-3 days in a urine or saliva test, but can show up in a hair test for up to 90 days. Chronic, long-term users may need more time for the drug to leave their systems.

Nicotine is a powerful drug that makes it difficult for smokers to quit. But when you finally decide it’s time, how long does nicotine withdrawal last? Here’s a look at what to expect.

Tobacco is the plant used to make cigarettes, chew and smokeless tobacco. It contains cancer-causing chemicals like tar, among thousands of other lesser-known chemicals. Nicotine is the element in tobacco that causes the addiction. It is very powerful, some say more addicting than heroin, which makes it very difficult for a smoker to quit. It agitates mood swings, increases your heart rate, and decreases appetite (which can often be a deterrent from quitting).

When you quit using tobacco, you may experience one or many nicotine withdrawal symptoms. They can include: cravings, anxiety, tension, difficulty concentrating, headaches, increased appetite, or depression. The symptoms will generally start within 2-3 hours of your last cigarette and will be at their worst in 2-3 days. After about 3-4 weeks, the habitual tendencies associated with smoking will usually cease. Heavier smokers generally experience worse symptoms than lighter smokers, so it may take them a little longer.

There are many products on the market that can help make quitting easier. Nicotine patches, gum and inhalers can help reduce withdrawal symptoms while you break the nicotine habit. There are also medications available that can be prescribed, but your doctor will need to recommend it for you. Keep in mind, quitting is still difficult even when using these products. You really have to be committed to the cause, otherwise they will not work and you’ll waste a lot of money.

So how long does nicotine withdrawal last? The symptoms start within 2-3 hours of your last cigarette and will worsen for the first 2-3 days. After that, it will take a few weeks to a month or so to fully break the habitual habit.

Alcoholism is a serious disease that affects the alcoholic along with his/her entire family. When the time comes for an alcoholic to get clean, it’s important for everyone to understand how long alcohol withdrawal will last.

Most alcoholics will go through a period of withdrawal as their bodies adjust to the lack of alcohol. Much of this is caused by physiological dependence, which basically means they have developed such a tolerance for the alcohol that their bodies react when they don’t have anymore. Symptoms can include irritability, tremors, headaches, nausea, agitation, confusion, and even hallucinations.

When an alcoholic stops drinking, the central nervous system overreacts, causing symptoms that in rare cases can lead to death. Certain drugs like Benzodiazepines might be administered to help prevent this, and even to help a recovering alcoholic manage his/her withdrawal symptoms.

The length of time the withdrawal symptoms last depends on how long the person has been drinking, how much the person drank on a regular basis, and the amount of time it’s been since the person’s last drink. Someone who drank heavily could feel withdrawal symptoms within an hour or two. Someone who drank more casually may not experience any real strong symptoms for a couple of days.

For a moderate drinker, the physical withdrawal symptoms will usually last a week or so after the last drink. For a heavy drinker, it can take a month or so to shake the physical symptoms. Heavy drinkers who experience life-threatening withdrawal symptoms like seizures or convulsions will usually recover from those conditions within about 10 days.

Though the physical withdrawal symptoms are over fairly quickly for most, the mental symptoms can last much longer. Most alcoholics will turn to a support group like Alcoholics Anonymous to help with the mental obsession to drink.

For an alcoholic, how long physical alcohol withdrawal lasts will depend on how severe the addiction was and how much the person consumed—for a moderate drinker the physical symptoms may last a week or so, but for a severe alcoholic, they could last a month or more.

Anesthesia is used to keep people from feeling pain during a medical procedure. But how long does anesthesia stay in your body once you wake up and how it used?

There are several types of anesthesia, and what you get depends on your medical procedure. Local anesthesia is used to desensitize small areas of your body, like a tooth or a cyst removal. Dentists regularly use local anesthetics. This type of anesthesia can last anywhere from an hour to several hours, depending on how much was administered. It can cause numbness or reduced feeling while it is still in your system.

Regional anesthesia will affect a larger part of your body. An epidural, which is a pain-relieving procedure many women choose to use during childbirth, is one common form of regional anesthesia. It can also last several hours, depending on how much is administered. Regional anesthesia can also leave you feeling numb as it wears off.

General anesthesia is where the patient is put into an unconscious state. It is used for more serious surgeries and is often referred to as a patient “going under”. This type of anesthesia can also last for several hours after the surgery, and possibly up to a day. After general anesthesia, you may feel nausea or get a little sick. You may also feel feverish or get the chills. You may have to stay overnight in the hospital to be monitored, if your procedure was serious.

The effects of anesthesia will vary somewhat from person to person depending on their overall health and metabolism. It will affect some people longer than others. But if you are having a medical procedure and need to know how long anesthesia stays in your body, it can last from a couple of hours to a day or so, depending on how much and what type of drug you were given.

It used to be that Penicillin was the main medicine prescribed for bacterial illness. Nowadays, there are several more available, and Azithromycin is one of them that is gaining popularity. Here is a look at how long it takes for Azithromycin to work and what its uses are.

Azithromycin is an antibiotic, which means it is used to treat bacterial infections (similar to Penicillin). It comes from the Erythromycin family, though it is somewhat different.  It can be used to treat respiratory infections, ear infections, pneumonia, strep throat and even certain sexually transmitted diseases. As with any other antibiotic, it won’t cure viral infections, so it’s can’t help with influenza (the flu).

Azithromycin is prescribed in different dosage levels, depending on the infection type. It comes in liquid form, as an extended release, or in pill form. You need to follow doctor’s directions carefully to avoid taking too much.

Azithromycin cures infections quicker than other drugs, and in some cases it will work in 3-5 days (most antibiotics take 7-10). It is often prescribed for children or for people with weaker immune systems because of its effectiveness.

Azithromycin does have some possible side effects, including diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or other gastrointestinal related issues. If those symptoms get really bad, make sure to tell your doctor. The drug has not been widely tested on pregnant women, so make sure your doctor knows you are pregnant if it is prescribed for you. Experts also don’t know if it transmits into breast milk.

If you forget to take your medicine, you can take it as soon as you remember unless it’s almost time for your next does. In that case, just take your normal does and never double up.

If you are prescribed Azithromycin, it will take 3-5 days to work if used properly, which may make this drug more advantageous to people who are ill.

Trazadone is commonly prescribed for people who suffer from anxiety. If you are prescribed Trazadone, you may want to know how long it takes to get out of your system.

Trazadone is an anti-depressant medication that is believed to add more serotonin to the brain. Serotonin is a chemical that becomes unbalanced in a person who is depressed. By adding more of it, the person may feel fewer or less serious anxiety symptoms. Occasionally, Trazadone may be prescribed for chronic pain.

Once downside to Trazadone is it may increase suicidal thoughts for the first few weeks of use. You will need to have regular doctor visits during this period of time. You also need to avoid alcohol while taking Trazadone, since the mixture could cause serious judgment impairment and make depression worse.

After you stop using Trazadone, it can take a few days to several weeks for it to leave your system completely. It all depends on the person, your dosage, and how long you’ve been taking the medication. And it’s important to note that though the medication itself may leave your system, you may notice behavioral changes as your body readjusts.

Trazadone comes in pill form and extended release tablets. Make sure to take it only as directed—your doctor may change the dosage based on your reaction but only he/she should make that call. If you miss a dose, don’t double-up—just take a single does at a tie. It may take 2 weeks before you notice any improvement or relief.

If you are a man who is taking Trazadone, get medical help right away if you experience an erection that lasts longer than 6 hours—this is a sign of a medical condition that needs immediate attention.

People using Trazadone may experience side effects like mood swings, dizziness, chest pain, or you may notice you bruise easier than before.

If you are prescribed Trazadone and decide to stop using it, be aware that it will take several days to a few weeks to get out of your system completely.

Many people suffer from motion sickness, nausea or dizziness while traveling. Dramamine, which is the marketed brand name for dimenhydrinate, is a common treatment for this ailment. If you are making travel plans and have a tendency to get motion sickness, you’ll need to know how long Dramamine lasts so you can plan accordingly.

It’s not 100% clear how dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) works, but some doctors believe it blocks chemicals from entering the inner ear. The inner ear helps you with balance and position, so if anything effects it negatively, you can feel sick and get vertigo.

Dramamine comes in pill form and in chewable tablets. It is most effective if you take it before you get sick, rather than after you are already ill.

The length of time Dramamine lasts will vary from person to person. You should take it about an hour before your travel plans begin (getting on the plane or the boat). You can take it every 4-6 hours as needed, as long as you don’t take more than 8 doses in a 24-hour period. For most people, the dose will last for several hours.

As with any medication, make sure to follow the directions carefully. If you miss a dose, don’t double-up—just take your next dose at the regular time.

While using Dramamine, it’s important to avoid driving or operating heavy equipment since you may have drowsiness or blurred vision. It can also increase the effect of depressants like alcohol or marijuana. Dramamine may cause dry mouth or an upset stomach. You can avoid some of these things by drinking plenty of fluids while taking the drug.

Though Dramamine is believed to be safe for women during pregnancy, the drug does pass into breast milk, so women who are nursing should not take it.

Overall, how long Dramamine lasts will depend on how fast your body metabolizes it—but for most people, a dose will last 4-6 hours.

Vicodin is a drug prescribed for pain relief, but it is quickly becoming an addict favorite as well. In fact, studies show that more than 15 million Americans claim to have used Vicodin and Hydrocodone for non-medicinal purposes. Since so many businesses are now testing for prescription drugs, it’s important to understand how long Vicodin remains in your body, in case you are ever asked to take a drug test.

Vicodin is classified as an opioid, which is somewhat different than and opiate, which is what heroin, cocaine and morphine all are. Vicodin is a semi-synthetic version known as Hydrocodone that causes similar effects. However, there are slight differences in how opioids manifest, which can make them show up differently on some drug tests and affect how long it remains in your body.

Similar to many other drugs, the amount of time Vicodin stays in your system depends on the type of test that is administered. Urine tests can detect it for about 3 days after discontinuing use. Saliva tests can also spot it for up to 3 days. On the other hand, hair follicle drug tests can detect it for much longer, in some cases up to three months or more.

Urine and saliva tests are used most often for drug-testing purposes, and most tests nowadays are able to detect prescription drugs like Vicodin. It is recommended that people who have legal prescriptions for Vicodin should be up-front about it if asked to take a drug test. This will avoid any unnecessary harassment if a test comes back positive.

If you are asked to take a drug test, Vicodin will remain in your body for about 3 days in your urine and saliva, and up to three months or more in your hair follicles.

Many people suffer from chronic constipation and need special treatment to relieve their symptoms. Amitiza is a drug often prescribed to treat this condition, and those patients need to know long Amitiza takes to work.

Amitiza works by increasing the fluids that flow through your intestines, making it easier to have a bowel movement. It is used to treat chronic constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

The drug will usually come in pill form that you take twice a day. Make sure to eat something and drink a full glass of water when taking Amitiza.

Many people say Amitiza works very quickly. In fact, studies show it can cause a bowel movement in 24 hours. It’s also known to create more bowel movements in a week, with less abdominal pain than other medications.

Amitiza can cause some side effects, so you need to take it only as prescribed and directed by your doctor. When you first take it, you may feel your chest tighten, but that sensation should ease shortly after.

If you ever miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it’s time for your next dose. Don’t ever double up on doses.

There are also a few health conditions that may limit your ability to take Amitiza. Make sure your doctor knows if you have kidney or liver disease, or if you have a bowel blockage. Don’t use Amitiza if you are pregnant—it may cause problems for your unborn child. Don’t use it if you are breastfeeding either, as it’s not known yet if the drug transfers into breast milk. And make sure your doctor knows if you already get severe diarrhea

Overall, how long Amitiza takes to work will vary somewhat on the person, but it is known to start working in many people within 24 hours.

Ecstasy use has exploded in recent years, especially in teenagers and young adults. If you do take it, how long does ecstasy stay in your system and what are its effects?

Ecstasy, also known as MDMA, is considered a stimulant, which means it helps you to wake up. Some users report it as a cross between meth and a hallucinogen, which makes the euphoric feeling that much stronger. It is commonly used at raves, in clubs or at parties where there is a lot of dancing going on. It is taken in pill form.

The length of time ecstasy stays in your system varies somewhat on the type of test that will be used to detect it. Ecstasy can be spotted in a urine or saliva test for up to 48 hours, but a hair follicle test can see it for several weeks.

As mentioned before, ecstasy has stimulating and euphoric properties. However, ecstasy use can have dangerous side effects. People under the influence may become so preoccupied that they forget to drink and become dehydrated. Ecstasy also alters the brain, reducing a person’s inhibitions. That means it’s very possible you can do something you’d regret—something you’d never do sober. Other side effects include involuntary teeth-clenching, chills, blurred vision, loss of appetite and an increased heart rate. Some studies indicate that ecstasy use can have long-term effects like permanent memory loss as well.

There are many “detox” products on the market that claim to cleanse your of drugs so you can pass a drug test. But experts say these are not reliable and that the only sure way to pass is to not use ecstasy.

But if you do have to take a drug test and need to know how long ecstasy stays in your system, the answer depends. It will show up in a urine or saliva test for about 2 days after use, but a hair drug test can spot it for weeks.
